Planning Management

CPM Planning and Scheduling

Schedules provide a platform for communicating, executing, reporting, and presenting a baseline for project progress and performance measurement.

Schedules also provide a platform for collecting and recording project progress, processing payment applications, and for analyzing project alternatives and decision making.

Schedule Design

We provide identification of schedule design key components for translation of the execution strategy into a well developed schedules.

  • Appropriate level of reporting and reporting needs of stakeholders
  • Schedule hierarchy
  • Schedule level of detail
  • Schedule development method (bottom-up vs. top-down)
  • Activity code dictionaries to support various reporting needs
  • Optional cost loading in the schedule to support cash-flow analysis and reporting
  • Progress measurement requirements
  • Required reports and standard templates
  • Risk and claim management requirements

Well designed schedules support cost and schedule forecasts with appropriate level of detail to enable effective project management.

Schedule Development

We insure schedule development alignment with the project control plan that establishes how project performance will be measured and assessed, including rules of credit for measuring progress, and the procedures for evaluating progress and forecasting remaining durations.

Results of our schedule development are effective platforms for controlling, monitoring and reporting project progress and performance measurement.

  • Development of the schedule hierarchy in compliance with the Project WBS
    • Level-1 Schedule with the key milestones and main phases summary activities
    • Level-2 Schedule subdivided by main phases and disciplines
    • Level-3 Schedule as an integrated CPM logical network organized in accordance with the Project WBS including all activities in terms of main phases
    • The lower Levels schedules which are applied to a portion of the Project
  • Development of the Level-3 CPM Schedule reflecting the key quantities and relevant manhours, the execution strategy and the best commissioning sequence
  • Integration of budgets, costs, resources, risks, and other information into a Level -3 CPM Schedule to provide a basis for an integrated project control system
  • Development of the schedules at different levels of detail in accordance with the contractual requirements

We prepare baseline CPM schedules, based on the contract scope of work requirements, contractual deadlines, procurement plan, resource availability, construction equipment availability and subcontracting plan to ensure its alignment with project objectives.

Progress Measurement

We provide progress measurement for effective project performance monitoring promptly identifying any deviation from the plan and addressing corrective action.

  • Development of Progress Breakdown Structure for roll-up and summarization of progress from the lowest control level to the higher control levels
  • Development of the planned progress S-curves and manpower histograms for the main phases by loading key quantities and relevant manhours into the Level-3 CPM Schedule
  • Development of the Overall S-Curve based on the S-Curves for the main phases and their weights according to relevant contract values
  • Collecting and verification of actual progress for the main phases based on detailed item lists and relevant milestones work steps (rules of credit)
  • Aggregation and roll-up of the actual progress to the higher control levels
  • Development of the actual progress S-curves and manpower histograms to allow control of physical progress and productivity efficiencies and comparison between planned and actual figures
  • Preparation and review of daily, weekly and monthly progress reports
  • Preparation of various periodical progress reports by phase, area, units, disciplines, contractors and subcontractors

Schedule Updating, Trending and Forecasting

We provide Schedule Updating, Trending and Forecasting pointing out deviations, variances and trends to promote timely completion of the project.

Schedule Change Management

Deviations, variances, and trends are the first indications of potential changes and must be tracked and properly dispositioned to ensure that they do not result in changes to contract scope, schedules, and or budgets. We can establish a viable trending, forecasting and change control procedures to improve the ability of the project to deal with these changes.

We can prepare Prospective Time Impact Analysis (TIA), a forecast designed to facilitate a timely contract adjustment prior to the changed and otherwise impacted work being completely performed, and requests for time extensions for owner approval.

We can also prepare Prospective Time Impact Analysis (TIA) for contractor internal purpose. This are various what-if analysis of the potential or most likely results of alternatives being considered by the contractor in terms of means and methods of completing the project.
